The Journal of Information-Based Decision Making (JIBDM) is an international, peer-reviewed scholarly journal dedicated to advancing theory, methodology, and practice in information-based and data-informed decision making. The journal provides an interdisciplinary platform for researchers, academics, and practitioners investigating how information, data, analytical methods, computational intelligence, and decision-support technologies can improve decision processes in complex, uncertain, and dynamic environments.
JIBDM publishes high-quality theoretical, methodological, empirical, and applied research that contributes to the understanding, design, analysis, and improvement of decision-making processes. Particular emphasis is placed on approaches that transform data and information into actionable knowledge and support effective, transparent, explainable, and evidence-based decisions.
The journal welcomes contributions from decision sciences, information systems, operations research, management science, artificial intelligence, data science, statistics, economics, engineering, and related disciplines. Research may address individual, organizational, managerial, technological, and public decision-making across a broad range of application domains.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, decision theory and decision analysis, decision support systems, multi-criteria and multi-objective decision making, data-driven decision making, business intelligence and analytics, artificial intelligence and machine learning for decision support, optimization and simulation, predictive and prescriptive analytics, risk and uncertainty modeling, information quality and knowledge management, explainable and trustworthy AI, human–AI decision making, behavioral aspects of decision processes, and intelligent information systems.
JIBDM particularly encourages interdisciplinary research that integrates advanced analytical and computational methods with real-world decision problems. Applications may arise in business and management, finance, healthcare, engineering, manufacturing, supply chains and logistics, energy, transportation, sustainability, public administration, digital transformation, smart systems, and other areas in which information plays a central role in decision making.
The journal seeks to bridge the gap between methodological advances and practical decision-making needs by publishing research with clear theoretical contributions, methodological rigor, empirical relevance, or demonstrable practical impact. Studies proposing new models, frameworks, algorithms, methodologies, and decision-support approaches are welcomed, as are rigorous evaluations and applications that provide substantive insights into decision processes and decision quality.
All submitted manuscripts undergo a rigorous double-blind peer-review process to ensure scientific quality, originality, methodological soundness, and relevance to the journal’s scope. JIBDM publishes original research articles, review papers, methodological and conceptual studies, and application-oriented research and case studies.
Through the dissemination of innovative and interdisciplinary research, JIBDM aims to contribute to the development of information-based decision-making theory and practice and to promote more intelligent, transparent, reliable, and effective decision processes in organizations and society.
